Description

5 day order - The over-mature oak (Quercus robur) lost two large branches on separate occasions at the end of last week, both of which fell on the drive of the gatehouse and damaged property. The oak had a cerioporus squamosus bracket in the autumn and the general condition indicates poor physiological condition. Extension growth is minimal and excessive epicormic growth is present. The leaf colour is noticeably lighter than all neighbouring oaks. On further inspection, there are several large cavities noted within the crown, predominantly at the base of large lateral branches indicating poor structural condition. The proposal is to carry out a heavy crown reduction and remove all major deadwood. The tree is currently subject to a TPO by way of the blanket order covering the north-eastern part of the estate, and consent is requested to carry out the emergency works, with the location and condition of the tree currently hazardous to the occupant of the dwelling and their property.
